Rope access in StS

Rope Access is a rope-based method for access.

The method  is used by all our disciplines and is relevant in the entire Norwegian industry, such as Oil and gas, Construction and Renewable industry.

StS is certified as an operator and  training company according to NS9600 work in ropes and IRATA ICOP.

We supply specially adapted RAT teams for each individual assignment according to the customer’s requirements. These RAT teams can often be a variation of several skilled disciplines-called SWAT teams.

All the company’s rope access technicians offer multidisciplinary expertise, and can take on a wide variety of work assignments. The company’s own set of procedures in this field covers both standards, and further expands on the guidelines provided. StS can provide rope access technicians with professional expertise in relation with:

Business area:

  • Surveying
  • Inspection
  • Cleaning
  • Mechanical work
  • Electrical work
  • Welding
  • Pipeline work
  • Insulation
  • Surface treatment
  • Rigging operations
  • Rescue teams for working at heights
  • Maintenance
  • Assembly work in shafts
  • Installation of work platforms

Industrial rope access is a challenging profession where the safety level required to perform well cannot be achieved through theoretical knowledge alone. Training and practical experience is crucial for the ability to assess situations and understand HSE.

Therefore, both IRATA and SOFT have divided the education into several levels with requirements for the number of logged hours before admission to courses at the next level can begin. All industrial rope access assignments must have a safety supervisor in charge.
