NAV is aiming to reduce youth unemployment. On behalf of StS, they arranged a job fair for youth this Monday (28 January). NAV called in job-seeking persons aged 18-30 years and StS presented the company, the disciplines and our projects. Afterwards, “speed interviews” were carried out where the job seeker got a unique opportunity to present them self and ask questions about the vacancies in StS.
The ISS industry faces major recruitment challenges. The trend for completed apprenticeships is negative, while the average age increases. To replace those who become pensioners in the coming years, employers must already now take measures to ensure competence in the future.
Many large projects within the Norwegian oil industry mean that many employers, like StS, are searching for professionals in 2019. StS alone has employed more than 100 new employees so far in 2019 and is still searching for new resources. It is important that we use the high activity period the industry is in now to employ and to train new young people who can perform the tasks in the future.
According to NAV’s market contact, Sissel Eikanger, there were 86 youth signed in for the event.
Four interviewers from StS used the interview room at NAV Årstad and met many great young people who showed positive interest in our disciplines and our vacancies.
The collaboration with NAV is an important prerequisite for StS to reach job seekers and secure the future of our disciplines. NAV facilitates and helps us to get young people to our disciplines”, says HR manager Kristin Borgersen.
