3D model of scaffolding in AdO – Interview with project manager in Bergen Municipality
AdO- Interview with project manager in Bergen Municipality, Erik Thormodsen
StS received an exciting assignment through our contract with Bergen Municipality. The assignment involved a maintenance project in the AdO arena!
Read more about how StS employees experienced the project here:

Now the assignment has been delivered by StS and we are left wondering what the customer thinks of our delivery.
Carsten Andersen in StS therefore had a chat with Project manager Erik Thormodsen in Bergen Municipality!

Now I stand here with Erik Thormodsen, project manager in Bergen Municipality,
Erik, can you tell us a bit about the project?
Erik
I can do that! What it started with is actually – many perceive this as a new facility but it has actually been here for 8 years, it is open every single day, from 6 in the morning to 12 at night, every single day of the week. So there is enormous wear and tear on both the facility and the technical equipment. So that’s why we chose to take on a maintenance project here this summer. And we’ve actually been planning that for half a year now and as we’ve talked about before, we had a very short window on this project. When the hall is closed, there is a crisis in the city! So then we have to work fast and it has to be well planned.
Carsten
What would you say were the biggest challenges in the project and how do you think we solved them?
Erik
The biggest challenge is that we have had such a short time to make all these things true, and when unforeseen things also appear, we have almost nothing to go on. This means that all parties involved here have to rely on flexibility and perhaps more resources. That is demanding in itself and this was also during the joint holiday, so it was extra demanding. It has been a demanding project.!
Carsten
How did you experience this with 3D modelling? Because of the time window, a fairly detailed model was made before we started. Did you see that as an advantage for you?
Erik
Yes, I think that has been a big advantage because then the scaffolding is planned in a very good way, both according to execution, HSE and making changes and adapting the jobs here means that those who have changed the scaffolding and worked with the scaffolding have had good conditions for making these changes.
Carsten
What is your current experience with StS as a supplier so far? Has it worked according to the intention and expectation?
Erik
StS has a framework agreement with Bergen Municipality, so I have StS on many projects, and I perceive StS as a professional and compliant supplier.
They are very flexible, including what I said in place of unexpected things coming up, they are on the ball straight away! And that is very good, we depend on that.
Carsten
We are happy to hear that! In conclusion, are there any other interesting projects in the works? As you say, we do have a framework agreement and are involved in many things, after the pandemic, is there more going forward than what we have seen in the last two years?
Erik
I can’t say anything specific now, but it’s clear that we, as a property owner with over 1,000 properties, 1.5 million square meters of property – we have 5,000 undeveloped properties, so it goes without saying that there are exciting projects coming up here! Everything from the smallest to the very exciting like this facility here at the AdO arena.
Carsten
It’s great!. We are ready Erik, and are happy that we got to the finish line in a good way here!
Erik
Thanks for the effort!
